I was born in and grew up in Galena, famous for its generals, Civil War history, architecture and beauty. I go back as often as I can, drawn by all the above. I had such success at the Palette and Chisel Gallery there before M.L. went out of business. About Ken Marsden
I'll skip the boring historical stuff. At 90 years old it is a pain to recite all that. I did obtain a degree from the University of Illinois, served in two branches of the U.S. military and had a fairly thorough training in drawing and art. I also had some considerable business experience. My paintings are not meant to convey some deep message that I feel the world should share. They are just an interpretation of what I see, a celebration of the wonderful life and world God has given all of us. I try to choose subjects and create paintings that allow you to lose yourself in them and want to return to them many times.
